How it works
From sign-up to your first answered call
There is nothing to install and no hardware. You describe your business once, and you can change anything it says at any time.
Setting up
Four steps, about an afternoon
- 1
Tell it about your business
Your services, hours, service area and the questions callers ask most. Write a greeting or keep the default.
- 2
Choose a plan and a number
Pick a local number in your area code. It is connected to your receptionist automatically.
- 3
Decide who hears about what
Add the people who should get new-lead and urgent-call alerts, by email or text, and set quiet hours.
- 4
Forward your line
Send calls from your existing number to your new one — always, or only when you do not pick up. Then switch the receptionist on.
A typical call
What happens when the phone rings
Timings are illustrative. Real calls vary with the caller.
- 0:00
The call is answered
“Thanks for calling. This is the AI assistant for the business — how can I help?” The caller knows from the first sentence that it is an AI.
- 0:10
It finds out what is needed
It asks about the problem and listens. If the caller asks a question, it answers from your approved information, or says it does not have that and offers to take a message.
- 0:50
It takes the details
Name, best callback number, address if you want it, and how urgent the situation is. Numbers are read back to confirm them.
- 1:30
It acts, within limits
It saves the lead. If the caller wants a visit, it records their preferred time as a request. If the situation is urgent, your on-call contacts are alerted right away.
- 2:00
It closes honestly
It recaps what it captured and says the team will follow up. It does not promise an arrival time or claim anything was booked.
- 2:05
Your team is told
An alert goes out and the call appears in your dashboard with a summary, transcript and the lead ready to work.
When things do not go to plan
It fails safely
- The caller hangs up early
- The call is logged as missed with their number, and your team is alerted so someone can call back.
- It cannot answer a question
- It says so, takes a message, and never fills the gap with a guess.
- A transfer is not picked up
- It apologises, takes the caller's details and alerts your team that the transfer failed.
- Your plan minutes run out
- You are warned at 80%. After 100% calls go to your fallback number, or the caller hears a short notice.
- Something breaks on our side
- The caller hears a short apology rather than silence, and the failure is recorded for our team.
- An alert cannot be delivered
- It is retried automatically. If it still fails, the account admins are told which alert and why.
Set it up this afternoon.
Tell it your services and hours, pick a number, and forward your line. You can read every call and change anything it says.
